Robert Davies: The Alchemy Of Nature
Robert Davies: The Alchemy Of Nature
Previous 1 of 3 Next

Composed over the latter half of 2011, this new ambient collection from Robert Davies further solidifies his name as a leading light in pastoral ambient. These six tracks seem to meld into a sustained aural treatise, revealing a more intimate, veiled, and perhaps mystical side of nature. Both relaxing, immersive, and exquisite, this is a work to nestle down with and simply let it work its magic.

"The Alchemy of Nature project was inspired by the relationship between man and nature, particularly involving man's studies and experiments with plants, stones, etc., from earlier times. The word "alchemy", to me, conjures up something of the mystical, which suggests something spiritual in the relationship itself between man and nature's elements -- later relegated to a colder, more clinical "scientific approach", or so it would seem, within the realm of typical Western thought and culture (unlike, of course, many native peoples who have always held nature in a higher, sacred reverence). I would like to think, in my overly-romanticized notions, that it is possible for man to explore nature's elements in their full, bountiful array while still retaining a certain reverence for it."
